Woman: Okay, here we are. This is our window eleven.
On-screen text: MONDAY 10:00AM dressing the biggest window
Woman: Yeah, window ten, window eleven. It's like our biggest window that we've got…our deepest window, so we tend to put the biggest things in obviously, so it's quite good. So, okay, do you want to go through?
I'm always getting people coming up to me and saying: what do you do? And I say I'm a visual merchandiser and everyone says,'What's that?' And I'm like, well, I’m what…basically what used to be called 'a window dresser'. So if we fit the models first.
When I was at school I didn't really know what I wanted to do when I was older. I just definitely knew that I wanted it to be something creative. My dad dragged me into college actually on to a course on 3D design and display. Whilst I was at college we had to do a week's work experience and one of the places where they took us on was Debenham's. We went for one week's work experience, me and another girl, and we got on so well they offered us a job at the end of it. So it was really good. I was really pleased with it. It was like kind of I didn't expect it, so it was really excellent.
Where's this stepladder going to? Where did I get it from? I got it from the staff landing, so I'll put it back there.
As the team leader I'm responsible for looking after the team, which is made up of two full-timers, two Lynsa(e)ys. They're both called Lyndsa (e) y.

Woman: And a part-timer called Ange.

Woman: Could you do me a favour actually? And um…take the stuff down to the window form instead of doing all this up here. Because this isn't as important. Cheers Ange.
Woman: Come on. When I first started, I would say it was my first proper decent wage. I think it was about twelve grand I think. Actually that's a lie. I started on about ten I think. And it went up and up and up. Just like a bit and a bit at a time. And then last year it went up to thirteen and a half grand. And as just now just recently I've just had a pay rise to a fifteen, which was wicked and I sighed 'Well, it's more normal now.' Like before doing what we do is quite physical and everything, and I think thirteen and a half is just rubbish really. You know it's just so hard to live off it. I think someone's knackered, aren't you?
Woman: I'm a bit concerned today because I've got Krista who is our regional senior visual manager coming in to critique the windows with me and so I'm going to have to go out and do that with Krista when she gets here.
On-screen text: 10:00AM window inspection
Krista: Right, so this is your half front dressed window. Lots going on here? That's coming off there and falling down.
Woman: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Re-stick poster.
Krista: Could you move those shoes over? Put them there. Bring these models to where those luggage are and bring them more into that group.
Woman: She's pointed out absolutely loads of stuff. And like when she was saying I was going: oh no there's so many things wrong and you know, I need to sort them out. But I just made a big list and wrote it all down.
Woman: Sleeves.
Krista: Now that looks a mess.
Woman: I can't believe how she got…there's so many things. I haven't actually ...
As we were actually approaching the Geoff Banks Window I was thinking: oh no, what's she going to say because all the other windows were quite…There were a lot of points that came up
.
Krista: Oh wow, this looks nice!
Woman: And when she actually saw the window she said: oh it's great I really like it. SoI was really pleased, quietly chuffed that she really liked, which was really great.
Krista: It's good. It looks nice.
Woman: Cool.
Krista: The window looks good.
Woman: I also heard a lot of…that the product that I'd put in the window had sold out very fast as well, which was great. Thank you very much Krista. You're a star.

Krista: I started in vista about five years ago and I took Vicky on probably about six months after I'd been here. And I can't believe the difference in her now. She’s always being late. I’d always be telling her off. She was naughty but she was a potential, and I think she realises that there's a career opportunity there for her and I think without a doubt she's next in line for a manager's position. She's a career chick. She'll be after my job in a couple of years.
Vicky: In the future what I want to do is going to become a manager of my own store, which would be excellent. Basically I need to learn about the managerial side of the job, like managing people and so on, and that would be great.
Don't come in unless you've got loads of money.
